Festival Braids Collection for Lost Lands
Are you seeking inspiration to create unique braiding styles for your next music festival? Then, you’ve come to the right place! Lost Lands is an amazing experience for anyone who enjoys electronic music, partying for days and nights, participating in attractions, and being surrounded by colorful displays of lights, animatronics, and fireworks. As with other music festivals, attendees spend weeks—or even months!—planning their rave outfits, rave makeup, and rave hairstyles, as these are a major part of the festive atmosphere.
Since I returned from my first experience at EDC in May, I’ve been looking forward to braiding at other music festivals. There’s something challenging about rave hair—and I love a good challenge! In this article, I’ll share some ideas for rave hairstyles and tell you all you need to know about Lost Lands. Keep reading to see reasons to be there. I know I wouldn’t miss it for the world!
Hairstyle Collection for Lost Lands
As with any music festival, the hairstyles for Lost Lands need to scream, “I want to PARTY!” This time as usual, the theme for the festival is dinosaurs! Unlike EDC, which was like visiting a gigantic carnival, Lost Lands is about traveling back in time to prehistoric days, to a land where nature, impulse, and life itself become untamable and unpredictable. I believe it’s a great theme for a rave: You surrender to something very basic, a natural instinct that brings thousands of people together to the beat of music. You feel part of something bigger. And there’s definitely a wild part of you that gets loose! That’s the spirit I’ve tried to capture in the collection of braided hairstyles I designed.
Rave Rapunzel
It all begins with two braids, but there’s nothing simple or plain about this style! It’s all about colorful bubbles in shades of pink and light blue, sweet and captivating like a huge cotton candy. This hairstyle combines bubble braids with smaller ones, all of them wrapped together at the top of the head.
This is a popular hairstyle for music festivals because it’s visually astounding while offering comfort, keeping the hair out of the way so nothing stops your client from dancing and partying all night long. Plus, it’s quite fast to achieve. It normally takes me an hour to create it.
To achieve this look, section the hair into two equal halves, and each half gets divided into 8-9 rows. Tie each row with a headband. Then, with the aid of an extensions loop, pass the hair through the first 3 or 4 rows. Next, braid this huge amount of hair into a cornrow and tease braiding extensions to make it look bulkier. Finally, tie the hair with a tie-in, braid the loose hair, and wrap the tie-in union to hide it.
Groove Goddess
Here’s another surprisingly simple yet powerful look of up-dos that party girls are going to go after. To create this hairstyle, begin by creating the partitions and applying some Shine N Jam gel for a professional result. The two division lines go towards the front: We’re going to have four box braids in the front on each side of the head. Don’t braid up to the end but leave it a little bit below the chin. At the back of the head, there are two very high ponytails. Add hair to make them look thick and full. Set aside a strand of hair that you’ll use at the end to wrap the hairband of the ponytail. Each ponytail gets braided into 4 to 6 braids—trust your artistic vision here!
This hairstyle usually takes about one hour and 15 minutes, so it’s pretty fast to create as well.
Dancefloor Diva
This hairstyle offers a unique front that highlights facial features, which is particularly recommended if the eye makeup is the main feature of your client’s look!
Start by separating the front part of the hair. When I do this, the division goes from the top of the head to a little bit behind the ears—move it backward than the regular partition. On the front of the head, this look requires half cornrows. I think of them as “the star of the party” so I like to create them wide and thick by adding hair and teasing it to achieve the desired diva look.
Use a tie-in to create the ponytail at the back and make sure it looks fuller. Wrap a strand of hair around the union to hide the hair band. Make sure everything falls towards the side and doesn’t remain on the back. This way, the hairstyle is visible from every angle when your client is on the dancefloor.
Happy Fairy
This rave hairstyle is basically two braids with extra volume thanks to the generous amount of feed-ins. I use the Dutch braid, but you can opt for other styles as well. It’s among the most comfortable hairstyles in my rave hairstyle collection but still looks astounding! Your client can choose the colors to match her rave outfit for a more defined look.
Boho Bliss
Boho braids are trendy all year long, and music festivals aren’t the exception. Of course, I needed to add this hairstyle to my rave hair collection! Front cornrows, huge bubbles, and lots of color are the main ingredients for this unique, soft look that combines simplicity with audacity. I believe it’s among the sexiest hairstyles I’ve ever created!
Wild Flower and Electric Crown
Do you have clients on a budget or in a hurry to get to the dancefloor looking great? These two hairstyles in my collection are fast to create and can be achieved in 30 minutes! By only adding a few strategic extensions and wraps, you create a fascinating look that will catch everyone’s eyes despite being quite simple to create.
Braiding for Music Festivals vs. Braiding for the Beach
Those of you who have known me for a while know that in Sunny Braids, most of my clients are enjoying a beach vacation in Puerto Rico and are looking forward to having their hair braided both for protection and style. Braiding at music festivals is a whole new experience for me as a professional, and although the braiding skills are similar, the experiences are quite different. Let me tell you how:
The Colors
Braided hairstyles for the beach are usually more natural or natural-looking: People who opt for colors choose gold, copper, or other shades that match their hair or skin tone and go great for pictures of sand and waves. Rave hairstyles are usually brighter, bulkier, and overall more flashy! The audience wants to stand out. I’ve done bright greens, yellow, purple, turquoise, and lots of pink.
The Purpose
People who are enjoying a beach vacation in Puerto Rico want to forget about their hair and save time and energy: No more long styling sessions after a long day at the beach, no more hair covering their eyes when they are scuba diving, surfing, or swimming at the pool. Of course, they want to look great, but their main concern is protecting their natural hair from the heat, the sun, and the sand.
People at music festivals want their looks to reflect the festive atmosphere and blend with the colorful environment. Of course, they want to feel comfortable when they dance, but a bit of discomfort is a price they are willing to pay to achieve a unique look!
Timing Matters
People who get braids for their beach vacation will keep them for at least a couple of weeks. They don’t want to redo their hairstyle in the middle of their holidays, and if possible, they want their braids to last until they come back home—it’s like taking with them some of the fun they had! At music festivals, the hairstyle should remain in place for those three or four days, but there’s no need to keep them for several weeks. This allows you, the braider, to play with tension, volume, and adding more material without worrying about the long-term effects the hairstyle may have on your client’s hair.
On the other hand, someone who is willing to keep their box braids for six weeks doesn’t mind taking several hours to have their hairstyle properly installed. But attendees of Lost Lands or any other music festival can’t wait to get on the dancefloor and don’t want to miss their favorite artists, so you need to come up with hairstyles that are spectacular but faster to create than your regular box braids.
About Lost Lands
Lost Lands is a unique experience created by Canadian DJ and producer Excision. It took place for the first time in 2017, and this year is the seventh edition. From September 20th to 22nd, 2024, Legend Valley in Thornville, Ohio, becomes the stage for wild prehistoric creatures to unravel their true nature. En este artículo, compartiré algunas ideas de peinados y te diré todo lo que necesitas saber sobre Lost Lands. Colección de peinados para Lost Lands
Como ocurre con cualquier festival de música, los peinados de Lost Lands deben gritar: "¡Quiero FIESTA!" ¡Esta vez, como siempre, el tema del festival son los dinosaurios! A diferencia de EDC, que era como visitar un carnaval gigantesco, Lost Lands trata de viajar en el tiempo a días prehistóricos, a una tierra donde la naturaleza, el impulso y la vida misma se vuelven indomables e impredecibles. Creo que es un gran tema para una rave: te entregas a algo muy básico, un instinto natural que reúne a miles de personas al ritmo de la música. Te sientes parte de algo más grande. ¡Y definitivamente hay una parte salvaje de ti que se suelta! Ese es el espíritu que intenté capturar en la colección de peinados trenzados que diseñé.
Rave Rapunzel
Todo comienza con dos trenzas, ¡pero este estilo no tiene nada de simple ni sencillo! Se trata de burbujas de colores en tonos rosas y celestes, dulces y cautivadoras como un enorme algodón de azúcar. Este peinado combina trenzas burbuja con otras más pequeñas, todas ellas enrolladas juntas en la parte superior de la cabeza.
Este es un peinado popular para raves porque es visualmente sorprendente y al mismo tiempo ofrece comodidad, manteniendo el cabello apartado para que nada impida que tu clienta baile y se divierta toda la noche. Además, es bastante rápido de lograr. Normalmente me lleva una hora crearlo.
Para lograr este aspecto, divide el cabello en dos mitades iguales y cada mitad se divide en 8 o 9 filas. Ata cada fila con una diadema. Luego, con la ayuda de un bucle de extensiones, pasa el cabello por las primeras 3 o 4 filas. A continuación, trenza esta gran cantidad de cabello en una trenza y trenza las extensiones para que parezca más voluminosa. Finalmente, ata el cabello con un lazo, trenza el cabello suelto y envuelve la unión del lazo para ocultarlo.
Diosa del ritmo
Aquí hay otro look de peinado recogido sorprendentemente simple pero poderoso por el que las chicas fiesteras enloquecerán. Para crear este peinado, comienza creando las particiones y aplicando un poco de gel Shine N Jam para obtener un resultado profesional. Las dos líneas divisorias van hacia el frente: vamos a tener cuatro box braids en el frente a cada lado de la cabeza. No trences hasta el final, déjalo un poco por debajo del mentón. Este peinado suele tardar aproximadamente una hora y 15 minutos, por lo que también es bastante rápido de crear.
Diva de la pista de baile
¡Este peinado ofrece un frente único que resalta los rasgos faciales, lo cual es particularmente recomendado si el maquillaje de ojos es una característica saliente del look de tu clienta!
Comienza separando la parte frontal del cabello. Cuando hago esto, la división va desde la parte superior de la cabeza hasta un poco detrás de las orejas; muévala hacia atrás que la partición normal. En la parte frontal de la cabeza, este look requiere cornrows parciales. Pienso en ellos como "la estrella de la fiesta", así que me gusta crearlos anchos y gruesos agregando cabello y moviéndolo para lograr el look de diva deseado.
Usa un lazo para crear la cola de caballo en la parte posterior y asegúrate de que se vea más llena. Envuelve un mechón de cabello alrededor de la unión para ocultar la banda para el cabello. Asegúrate de que todo caiga hacia un lado y no quede atrás. De esta manera, el peinado es visible desde todos los ángulos cuando tu clienta está en la pista de baile.
Hada feliz
Este peinado rave consiste básicamente en dos trenzas con volumen extra gracias a la generosa cantidad de cabello añadido. Yo uso la trenza holandesa, pero puedes optar por otros estilos también. ¡Es uno de los peinados más cómodos de mi colección de peinados rave, pero aún así luce increíble! Tu clienta puede elegir los colores que combinen con su atuendo rave para una apariencia más definida.
Felicidad bohemia
Las trenzas bohemias están de moda durante todo el año y los festivales de música no son la excepción. ¡Por supuesto, necesitaba agregar este peinado a mi colección de cabello rave! Trenzas frontales, burbujas enormes y mucho color son los ingredientes principales de este look único y suave que combina sencillez con audacia. ¡Creo que está entre los peinados más sexys que he creado!
Flor Silvestre y Corona Eléctrica
¿Tiene clientes con un presupuesto limitado o con prisa por llegar a la pista de baile luciendo geniales? ¡Estos dos peinados de mi colección son rápidos de crear y se pueden lograr en 30 minutos! Con solo agregar algunas extensiones y envolturas estratégicas, crea una apariencia fascinante que llamará la atención de todos a pesar de ser bastante simples de crear.
Trenzado para festivales de música versus trenzado para la playa
Aquellos de ustedes que me conocen desde hace un tiempo saben que en Sunny Braids, la mayoría de mis clientes están disfrutando de unas vacaciones en la playa en Puerto Rico y esperan que les trencen el cabello tanto para protegerlo como para darle estilo. Trenzar en festivales de música es una experiencia completamente nueva para mí como profesional y, aunque las habilidades para trenzar son similares, las experiencias son bastante diferentes. Déjame decirte cómo:
Los colores
Los peinados trenzados para la playa suelen ser más naturales o de aspecto más natural: las personas que optan por los colores eligen dorado, cobre u otros tonos que combinen con su cabello o tono de piel y quedan geniales para fotografías de arena y olas. ¡Los peinados rave suelen ser más brillantes, voluminosos y, en general, más llamativos! El público quiere destacar. He hecho verdes brillantes, amarillo, morado, turquesa y mucho rosa.
El propósito
Las personas que disfrutan de unas vacaciones en la playa en Puerto Rico quieren olvidarse de su cabello y ahorrar tiempo y energía: no más largas sesiones de peinado después de un largo día en la playa, no más cabello cubriéndoles los ojos cuando bucean, surfean o nadando en la piscina. Por supuesto, quieren lucir geniales, pero su principal preocupación es proteger su cabello natural del calor, el sol y la arena.
La gente en los festivales de música quiere que su apariencia refleje la atmósfera festiva y se mezcle con el colorido ambiente. Por supuesto, quieren sentirse cómodas cuando bailan, ¡pero un poco de incomodidad es un precio que están dispuestas a pagar para lograr un look único!
El tiempo importa
Las personas que se hacen trenzas para sus vacaciones en la playa las conservarán durante al menos un par de semanas. No quieren rehacerse el peinado en medio de sus vacaciones y, si es posible, quieren que sus trenzas duren hasta que regresen a casa. ¡Es como llevarse parte de la diversión que tuvieron! En los festivales de música, el peinado debe permanecer en su sitio durante esos tres o cuatro días, pero no es necesario mantenerlo durante varias semanas. Esto te permite a ti, el trenzador, jugar con la tensión, el volumen y agregar más material sin preocuparte por los efectos a largo plazo que el peinado pueda tener en el cabello de su clienta.
Por otro lado, a alguien que esté dispuesto a mantener sus box braids durante seis semanas no le importa tomarse varias horas para instalar correctamente su peinado. Pero los asistentes a Lost Lands o cualquier otro festival de música están ansiosos por subir a la pista de baile y no quieren perderse a sus artistas preferidos, por lo que debes crear peinados que sean espectaculares pero más rápidos de crear que tus box braids habituales.
